How do Interval Roadmaps Work?
The Interval Roadmap accesses the same information as the product portfolio roadmaps do, presenting the data in a way that is more focused on the financial implications of each interval, instead of the activities of each product line. This can be especially helpful for stakeholders and executives.
Rather than viewing product lines on a horizontal timeline to compare the activities of each product line, the Interval Roadmap sorts all products into a vertical column based on the time intervals.
You can specify the time intervals based on the frequency of their releases and the period you want to review, whether monthly, quarterly, or yearly. This will set the columns and how the plans are grouped. The plans are listed in their respective interval in chronological order. You can also set the total duration of the roadmap to 1, 3, or 5 years. This will determine how many intervals (columns) to display in total.
Once these settings are established, stakeholders can review the progress of each plan scheduled for release within that timeframe. The vertical columns make it easier to see - across the entire portfolio - which plans are set to be released, and how they will impact the financial metrics.
To make it easier to identify product lines, plans are color-coded and the diamond positioned across the top of the card will display its scheduled date.
