Looking Back at 2024: A Year of Innovation at Gocious

The end of a year is always a fitting time to reflect on organizational achievements. Here at Gocious, we look back on 2024 as a year of strong client relationships, innovation, and standout awards. It's been an exciting time to deliver empowering features—36 total this year!—that help our clients improve their workflows, save time, and focus on what matters most. Let's look at some of those highlights from the past twelve months.

Developing Client Relationships: Supporting AGCO’s Mission to Help Farmers Feed the World

We've worked closely with AGCO, helping their company transform its product development process by adopting our dynamic Product Roadmap Software. This shift from outdated static systems to an agile, real-time solution has been a game-changer for their teams.

This partnership provided AGCO with a scalable platform to enhance global collaboration, streamline administrative tasks, prioritize product innovation, and focus on customer needs. By leveraging Gocious, AGCO improved organizational agility, decision-making, and strategic planning, aligning with its mission to support farmers worldwide.

A Year of Innovation: New Features and Improvements We Released This Year

At Gocious, we focus on helping clients as they move towards a hybrid work environment. With every new feature, dashboard, and roadmap we add to the platform, our goals remain steadfast: facilitate clarity, increase organizational transparency, and help companies maintain alignment at every transition phase. The innovative features we launched during the last twelve months expand our support for companies working in stage-gate, agile, and hybrid environments.

Open API Integrations

Our newly launched Open API feature empowers organizations to streamline operations by integrating Gocious with their existing tech stack. Companies can automate data-sharing across departments by connecting Gocious with other systems like Salesforce, JIRA, and BI tools like Tableau or Power BI. These integrations replace manual updates while reducing communication silos.

Beyond improving collaboration, the Open API feature saves time and enhances security with OAuth 2.0 protocols, ensuring secure data transmission so teams can confidently share information across platforms. Automated data sharing also reduces the frequency of meetings and excessive email communication, allowing employees to focus their energy on their core responsibilities.

Whether using direct connections or service buses like Mulesoft, Gocious’ Open API supports custom integrations to meet your company’s specific business needs, this feature reaffirms our commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and innovation for product developers and manufacturers worldwide.

Tasks

We launched new plan templates and task management features this year to enhance strategic product portfolio management. The plan templates allow product teams to standardize and customize plan properties, capturing consistent critical data, such as financial metrics, customer insights, and release risks. With pre-configured templates and a shared platform, teams can focus on strategic planning, reduce administrative overhead, and improve collaboration by centralizing information for better decision-making.

The task management feature bridges the gap between product and project management, enabling users to assign, track, and document tasks directly within plans for capabilities. This feature allows for real-time collaboration and a unified platform for managing complex projects. Users can specify owners, deadlines, and context for each task, ensuring accountability and clarity. This new feature further promotes transparency and seamless teamwork by eliminating disconnected business tools.

KPI Set and KPI Roadmaps

Another new feature is the KPI Set and KPI Roadmaps, a powerful new feature designed to help product managers measure and visualize the impact of their product roadmaps. This feature enables organizations to associate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with specific milestones in their roadmaps, offering actionable insights into the business and market effects of product decisions.

By tracking metrics such as cost, revenue, customer acquisition, sustainability, and time-to-market, product managers can make data-driven decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and align product portfolios with broader business goals. For example, companies can assess how changes in product features impact sustainability goals like CO2 reduction while balancing budget constraints.

The KPI Set Roadmap also empowers teams to learn from historical data, improve strategic planning, and forecast the long-term impact of their decisions. By visualizing trends and outcomes, product managers can prioritize initiatives that maximize value and align with organizational objectives. This tool integrates seamlessly with platforms like JIRA and other business systems through Gocious' Open API functionality. Accessible to all active users, the KPI Set Roadmap supports continuous monitoring of key metrics, ensuring product roadmaps remain relevant, effective, and aligned with evolving business and market needs.

Enhanced Filters

Right from the start, our software has included essential filters for product development phases and market or brand segmentation, enabling users to streamline roadmap analysis and address regional compliance needs effectively. Our new and enhanced filtering features expand these functionalities, allowing users to focus on critical details such as:

  • Product development stages
  • Key attributes
  • Goals aligned with KPIs
  • Shared components across portfolios

These tools enhance decision-making, ensuring teams can quickly assess progress, prioritize objectives, and identify redundancies or opportunities for cost-saving measures.

The new filters further empower businesses to align their roadmaps with strategic goals, such as sustainability and operational efficiency. For example, users can monitor ESG objectives or track how shared components affect multiple products, enabling proactive responses to issues, including supply chain disruptions.

This heightened level of customization not only simplifies portfolio oversight but also promotes alignment across stakeholders. With Gocious, you can quantify and track KPIs to forecast how your roadmaps impact your business for each product line. Now, you can see the impact of KPIs, not just on each product line or value stream but also rolled up into categories and your entire business. Our dedication to continuous innovation demonstrates our commitment to delivering tailored solutions for effective product management.

The Product Lifecycle Roadmap

The product lifecycle roadmap centralizes all product-related data to improve transparency for all stakeholders and ensure alignment with both product goals and long-term company goals. Showcasing vital information for a product across its lifecycle prevents miscommunication and eliminates guesswork.

The product lifecycle roadmap shows the date a product will be available to the market, the date it will retire, and the milestones that upgrade the product along the way. You can see the plans to upgrade the product from its inception until sunset. It also highlights misalignments. If a plan to release a new upgrade is after the slated sunset of the product, you will see that clearly on this roadmap.

This roadmap will put your entire product portfolio and its evolution at your fingertips. It clearly shows the solutions the market will receive over time.

Key benefits of the product lifecycle roadmap include:

Clear Start and End Dates: Blue brackets on the timeline display start and end dates for each product, helping teams determine plan compatibility at a glance.

Unified Dashboard: Displays all product plans on a single roadmap, enabling quick reviews and spotting innovation opportunities or gaps.

Automatic Alerts: Notifies managers of missing or incorrect data, such as missing start dates or mismatched timelines.

The Interval Roadmap

The new Interval Roadmap transforms dashboards into a vertical roll-up, grouping product plans by specific time intervals. Unlike the Plans Roadmap, which is organized by product line, the Interval Roadmap highlights all plans set for release within a given interval, showing details like module launches, costs, revenues, and other key metrics. This view simplifies financial analysis, allowing teams to assess costs and benefits at each time interval or across the entire roadmap duration.

This roadmap shows what needs to be released in each interval in a condensed way, so you can see all the relevant information on the screen and collaborate with fewer clicks and less scrolling.

The Interval Roadmap also offers these key advantages:

  • Refined multi-year plan presentations
  • Reduced time on meeting prep
  • Enriched communication and transparency

Enhanced Feature Management and Category Navigation

Tracking features in large or complex product lines is crucial for accurate planning and decision-making. The Feature Lifecycle Roadmap links feature with product plans, helping teams manage availability, address delays, and prepare for discontinuations. When a feature within a plan changes, new alerts and notifications are sent to the stakeholders to keep everyone informed and maintain transparency.

Feature lifecycle roadmaps visually represent a feature (or module) as it is available in the market, the products that plan to integrate it, and, finally, when it is planned to be deprecated.

This roadmap illuminates misalignment between discreet features and the products that incorporate them. Teams can now see alerts for plans that fall outside the availability of specific features. They can also see how the feature is being rolled out to different product lines and products using this capability.

Continued Focus on Enhanced Scoring & Precise Prioritization

Part of our mission here at Gocious is to make product management more efficient and accessible for everyone involved. At the start of this year, we released several features that help product managers seamlessly manage their product portfolio roadmaps while leveraging data-driven insights to score and prioritize ideas.

Prioritizing Voice of the Customer Using Capability Scores

The new "Capability Scores" feature helps streamline your product teams' scoring and prioritization workflows, ensuring the voice of the customer is always front and center. Using the capability scores feature, teams can create dedicated boards to independently evaluate ideas, score features, and determine priorities.

These options empower teams to use the scoring formulas that suit their needs while staying aligned with the product scope and overall vision.

Precise Prioritization for Large Organizations

Deciding which product ideas or features to prioritize, save for later, or drop altogether is one of the most important responsibilities yet toughest challenges in product development. This is partly because stakeholders often bring diverse perspectives, which can lead to extended debates about priorities. This is where precise prioritization formulas prove invaluable, helping teams collaborate effectively to identify the best course of action.

After introducing a prioritization dashboard designed to centralize product idea scoring and enhance stakeholder transparency, we launched "Choice List Attributes" to further streamline the process. Our continued focus on improving prioritization empowers manufacturers to make informed, collaborative decisions while improving efficiency, alignment, and trust.
