Webinar replay: Optimize your product line with weighted scoring

Webinar-Header_1280x720-optimize-through-score

Do you use weighted scoring today to make product and feature decisions?  Do you use your own scoring model?  or a simple Pugh analysis? How do you factor in innate bias in the decision-making process of what products and features to build?

What if there was a simple and automated way to leverage weighted scoring and remove bias from the scoring model?  Well, you are in the right place.

Watch On-Demand: Optimize Your Product Line With Weighted Scoring

In the recent Gocious webinar, "Optimize your product line with weighted scoring,"  available to watch on-demand, we presented how discrete manufacturers can benefit from using weighted scoring in the product planning process. We showed how Gocious has taken weighted analysis to a whole new level by applying it across configurable products, providing a previously impossible level of insight via traditional methods.

We described how developing a product (line) is a constant balancing act, trying to find the optimum sweet spot that satisfies as many business and market criteria as possible. These criteria come in many forms, including customer requests, competitor products, corporate objectives, and manufacturing requirements.

We presented a scenario that illustrated these criteria as a fictitious laptop manufacturer looking to target a new customer base. We showed how using a decision matrix (also known as Pugh analysis) can help balance competing inputs to find the best product solution to take to market.

We discussed how decision matrices are an excellent way to reduce personal bias and objectively analyze products. However, users need to be wary that this method can be complicated to create and has a limited scale when a product becomes configurable. Scoring all of the alternatives available becomes a time-consuming task that is not practical.

We presented the Gocious product portfolio management solution, which includes automated weighted scoring. Gocious removes many of the barriers to creating decision matrices, helping users create these matrices faster and without having to worry about setting up complicated calculations using spreadsheets. We also talk about how Gocious extends this capability to consider both single variant products and multi-variant products that can be configured in many ways.

We close by giving a behind-the-scenes look at how we are working to extend this capability to allow users to get further insight into where their products are performing well or poorly with a score breakdown.
